Service learning students from the "City By the Water" group will be traveling to different parts of Philadelphia to explore the city's relationship with its rivers. Some of the places that students are going to include the Benjamin Franklin Parkway,Wissakicken Park, Schuykill River banks trail, and the Delaware River water front. This blog will share students responses to these areas and tell about our experiences as we try to find out how the city is affected by water.

My changes
The things i would change are that there are better means of transportation other than getting on the trips our selves.that is the only thing i would change in the program.Mylesson plan would be for everyone to do four slides on the aleast three of the rivers. We would go to localor neasest place wear water is .
I learned to work together with others this summer. I also learned to have respect. I learned about the ships and cranes at the Packer and Tioga terminals. I learned about the statues at the parkway and it was built. The final thing I learned things about the Art Museum. I would design the program the same way the director did with the same amount of hours. I would keep it the same because I know teenagers wouldn't want to work all day like the adults. Pollution is one of the problems that Philadelphia is facing. I also met new people during the summer program here at Temple. I wish it was more weeks here.
What I Learned This Summer *
5 Things I Have Learned This Summer :
How To Make A Google Map
How To Blog About My Ideas
Different Issues At Different Rivers
How To Test Water
How To Be On Time For Work
I Would Change The Trips So That The Students Did Not Have To Walk In Such Heat.
The Most critical water issue facing city of philadelphia is water pollution because if people keep polluting our water then all our drinking and shower water is going to be dirty and polluted. I know i do not want dirty drinking water or shower water.

On this trip we went to the ports the ports are called Packer and Tioga Fruit Terminal, the people that worked the cranes had to move really quick and they needed to get a certain amount of containers every hour The trip was very boring i dont think it wasnt entertaining.

Port richman was a ok trip the lady show us things like cantainers and other stuff also we road in a nice bus which we was shown a tour
Tioga & Packer Terminal
The trip to the ports was my second trip that I went on. It was the best one. There were two other groups that went on the trip wit us. We went on two shuttle buses. We had the bus with the air conditioner. The other group was hot on the other one. We went to two terminals which was the Tioga & Packer terminal. A lady was on the bus with us to tell us about the two terminals. The Tioga terminal was located at Port Richmond. The Packer terminal was located in South Philly. This trip was better than the first trip that I went on.
Trip to the Ports
The trip to the ports ,was the best trip so far. When we got of the trolley there were two shuttle buses to take us on a tour. On the tour there were cranes picking up containers. In the containers there were cars, food, and clothes. I think this was the best trip because we didnt have to walk at all , we was in a nice bus with air conditioner. Another thing is that the shuttle bus driver was nice enough to ride of back to Temple campus.

Water Work Museum
On friday me and my group went on the fairmount waterfront trip. It was a long walk there down the schuykill river trail. We stopped where there was shade and drawed a picture of the view we saw. Then a lady came out the water work museum and took us on the tour. The museum looked like it was for kids. They dont use the water work no more because the river is to dirty. Also they use to clean it with a filter. The water got polluted. They built the water work in 1909.Inside the museum they had a presintation about how the water work use to work from back in the day until now. That's what happened at the water work museum trip.

The Water Work Trip
The trip was very boring when we got there we didn't really gain anything from the trip side why the water work was made. The way we got there was by catching the sub to the L where we got off at the 30th st station then we walk to the schuykill path. Then we walked all the way to the Water works building where we stopped for a minute top draw a map of the trail and the thing around it.Then we went into the water works then we went on a mini tour where we then saw a movie about the history of the museum.

Water Works
On Friday we went to the Fairmount water works to learn more about water. We walked threw the building it was nice but it smelled just like salt water. They had alot of things that show us how we pollute the water. For example, they ask us stuff like do u use the bath room and take showers because that pollutes the water. The best part on the trip was drinking that cold water that they had after walking along the Schuylkill river. We also watched this movie in this dark room that had these nice lights but the trip was ok.

last friday we went to Fairmount water works.it was an ok trip and it was fun. while we were on the trip we had to walk the trail to get there.i almost got hit by two bikes while we were walking , i was so scared! however while walking i observed many things , such as the
water , nature , and people enjoying the scenery. when we got to the water work we had to draw a map of what we saw while we were walking on the trail.while we were drawing our map we were sitting under a gazebo .then we went to meet the other group so we can go to the water works museum.therefore some lady came out to give us little history about the museum.afterwards we went to the museum while we were there we overlooked some important statue and a movie that was so boring that people was fell asleep.after the movie we began to walk back to 30 street station.that was our trip to the water work.by the water
Fairmount Water Works*
On The Fairmount Water Works Trip We Had To Take That Long , Hot Walk From The 30th Street Station Again. We Were With Ryan On This Trip. Along The Schukyll River There Were Many Different Bushes. One Had Berries Which Looked Just like Blueberries. My Group And I Had A Whole Debate Whether They Were Blueberries Or Not.We Eventually Got To The Building But We Were 30 Minutes Early . So We Went Under This Beautiful Gazebo And While We Waited There We Made A Map Of The Walkway . Finally time Had Passed And We Went Inside The Museum. Inside The Museum We Learned How Much Pollution We Contribute As A Person On this Board With Different Switches That Say Shampoo , Urine , Toilet Paper And You Flick Each One That You Did . That Was Fun .
